A Million Frames: The Editorial Photography of Scott Ramsey

From Fleet Street to the Royal Archive: A Career in Frames

"My career began in 1988 with a single photo in a local newspaper. By age 15, I was on Fleet Street, shadowing the Daily Mirror’s finest. I will never forget the day a veteran staffer told his editor that my shot of Anthea Turner was better than his own—it became my first national publication and sparked the local headline: ‘Great Scott is in the Mirror.’"

"Since those early days of ‘Gentlemen’ photographers and 35mm film, I have documented the stories that define British life. From intimate, unscripted moments with His Majesty King Charles III to the raw energy of stadium rock, the Scott Ramsey Archive now spans over 1.5 million frames (and counting)."

"This gallery is a curated selection of those moments—the iconic highlights of a journey that, after nearly four decades, feels like it is still just beginning. I have always lived by the words of Alfred Eisenstaedt: “When I have a camera in my hand, I know no fear.” It is a philosophy that has guided me through every assignment since 1988, and it is the energy I bring to every new story I tell."

Giving a Voice to the Voiceless

I believe everyone has a story to tell. My journey has been one of constant adaptation—from mastering 35mm film and pioneering press autofocus to embracing the first professional digital cameras and the smartphone revolution.

Today, that legacy continues through a multimedia lens. I use whatever it takes to tell the story, whether that is through high-fidelity video, short films, or audio. My goal remains the same as it was in 1988: to use my skills to give a voice to the voiceless.

I have always lived by the words of Alfred Eisenstaedt: “When I have a camera in my hand, I know no fear.” It is a philosophy that has guided me through every assignment since 1988, and it is the energy I bring to every new story I tell.
