Taking photographs in low light without a steady tripod to hand can be a real problem. This can especially be true when you're travelling, as often carrying a tripod all day isn't an option; after all, you're already weighed down with all those cameras, lenses and emergency snacks! In this blog post, I'll share a low light photography tip that I've been using for years, and that might make all the difference on your next photo adventure.

I love travelling with my cameras and photographing some of the unique cities, landscapes and cultures I discover. In this travel photography blog update, I'm exploring Valencia in Spain and heading to the famous, Valencia Bullring the Plaza de Toros de Valencia.

Valencia is a beautiful Spanish city and one of my favourite places to wander around taking photos, especially the historic Old Town, El Carmen. It was a Sunday, so the Old Town was quiet, apart from the occasional chiming of church bells, as I wandered around. The early morning sunlight was casting its beautiful golden glow on the buildings a perfect day for some street photography.

When I'm lucky enough to be travelling, I love to get up early each morning and explore the city. It's the best time to get the feel of a place and see how the locals live before us tourists arrive

Thankfully after 30 years I still have a passion for telling stories, and when the story is right, I don't always need to be commissioned to pick up my cameras. Heck, the day I stop wanting to document life and share the story of a city, and its people is the day I'll retire.

Day 5 of my travel photography road trip to Cornwall and it's a beautiful day to visit St Ives, take some photographs and enjoy a boat trip.

As the light disappears and day turns into night, I watch a ferry arrive into Plymouth Sound. I'm stood alone overlooking the Sound at a place called Jennycliff. It's quiet now, I have only the light of the full moon to see and the stirring of the waves to hear.
