I've often thought that a career as a professional photographer has some similarities to a career in the music industry. Odd, you might think but stick with me! Having photographed Mel C, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Stereophonics and the Manic Street Preachers, all in concert. I've definitely noticed similarities.

Recently I was hired for a Commercial Photography shoot in Kent. Safe Home Security, a Kent business that specialises in home security, needed some new photographs to promote the business and showcase its services. So with the help of my assistant, Mihai, I spent the day creating a set of photographs perfect for my client's needs, and here's a selection of some of my favourite images from the photoshoot.

Working as a documentary photographer, I create photographs that tell a story. Sometimes I create a collection of photographs that form a photo essay; another time, it's one stand-alone photo that often captures a split second in time others don't see.

The weather tends to be a hot topic of conversation here in the UK. To feed this insatiable desire with weather-related news, I've often been tasked by a picture editor to head out (sometimes literal into the storm) and get some weather photos. However, on this assignment, I didn't expect to photograph a windswept Twiggy on Southsea Prom.

In 2003, Concorde was being decommissioned, and I had heard that the supersonic aircraft would arrive at Cardiff airport as it took its final tour around the UK. So I grabbed my cameras (for those interested - I used a Nikon D1H back then), filled a flask with coffee and headed to South Wales.

Videography plays just as big a part in my working day as photography does, and I've been working with some great clients recently. Recently I was asked to create a series of site update interview videos for the multi-million-pound flagship development, Northern Arc, in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.

Understanding my client's needs is essential for a successful commercial photography shoot, and I work hard to achieve this before, during, and after a photography shoot. This image is taken from a set of photographs I created for a global software company that develops products for military, intelligence and national security, healthcare, financial, public and private sectors.

West Sussex, my magical home county. I was born and bred here, and I have worked as a professional photographer and videographer in this beautiful county of Southern England for most of my life. And oddly, I've never felt the need to pick up sticks and live anywhere else!

There's always something to photograph, especially in March when back in 2017 I visited Denia to document this traditional fiesta. Fallas marks St Joesphs Day and runs from the 17th to the 19th of March, with the last day culminating in a wild night of music, fireworks and bonfires.
