UK Professional Commercial Photographer, Scott Ramsey meets a Robot called Sam while on a photography assignment at a leading UK University.
Working as a professional commercial photographer in the UK is great fun. I get to work with many different types of businesses and organisations across the country who require high-quality photographs to promote their business. I especially enjoy working in the Education Sector, and I've been commissioned by Universities to photograph their students, staff and facilities on campus. The images are often used in their University Prospectus, on their website and shared online via Social Media. My storytelling style of commercial photography is ideal for this sector, and getting to meet and photograph so many inspiring young people makes my job even better.
This photograph has got to be one of my favourites. I was asked by a University Marketing and Communications department to photograph this robot. The robot, let's call him Sam, had been developed as a companion to children who had to spend time being treated in hospital. After taking some photos of Sam being programmed by the students, I decided I needed an alternative and fun photograph to accompany the forthcoming press release. I made some enquires, and a member of the faculties staff agreed for her son to be in the photo, perfect I had my picture.
And that's what makes me different from many other UK commercial photographers. I go that extra mile to get the picture!
