Thankfully after 30 years I still have a passion for telling stories, and when the story is right, I don't always need to be commissioned to pick up my cameras. Heck, the day I stop wanting to document life and share the story of a city, and its people is the day I'll retire.

Day 5 of my travel photography road trip to Cornwall and it's a beautiful day to visit St Ives, take some photographs and enjoy a boat trip.

As the light disappears and day turns into night, I watch a ferry arrive into Plymouth Sound. I'm stood alone overlooking the Sound at a place called Jennycliff. It's quiet now, I have only the light of the full moon to see and the stirring of the waves to hear.

Day 3 of my photography road trip and I spent the day at the world's oldest remaining covered slipway in Devonport, Plymouth. Stirling & Son is based at the boatyard and they repair and build beautiful traditional wooden boats, here’s my photo essay.

The day was nearly over on day two of my road trip. It had been a busy couple of days and I was just planning my return journey back to Plymouth when I remembered Salcombe was just over the hill! Well it would be rude not to visit ;-)

Beautiful Burgh Island is located just off the coast of South Devon, England. The island is shrouded in history and has legends of smugglers and wreckers plundering cargo from wrecked ships. It has an art deco hotel, a 700 year old inn and even a sea tractor. I was on day two of my photography road trip and just had to visit and explore with my camera. 

It was a beautiful morning in Devon as I struggled to quietly close the front door behind me as my girlfriend slept. It was day two of my photography road trip and I was up early, eager to catch the morning light and find a decent cup of coffee. My destination Plymouth Hoe. 

Sunday afternoon had arrived and to avoid watching yet another repeat on TV I grabbed my Nikon and went out exploring. A walk was needed to clear my mind, invigorate my soul and help fire up my creativity. I decided to travel light and left most of the camera gear behind, opting instead for just one camera and one lens.

After weeks of preparation finally the day had arrived. The car was loaded, sandwiches made (cheese and tomato of course) and I was ready for the first Photographer’s Eye Road Trip! First stop Bournemouth but what will be the story?
